Through my burgeoning performance practice I seek to investigate solo performance embodying technology. For this process, I collaborated with sound engineer Becky Button to use her innovative Purple Pedal (a fully reprogrammable music pedal) to connect my body’s directly to a light sensor while monologing into a vocal looping pedal. The interaction of the vocal pedal and light sensor were fascinating to explore, and while the final documentation only uses the pedal, I’ve included screen tests I ran with both technologies as insight into my research and development process.
